In an appeal against penalising late filing of tax returns, a tribunal in Britain has criticised HM Revenue and Customs saying," It is no function of the State to use the penalty system as a cash generating scheme." Private Eye, August 19. In Delhi car owners, even those with new cars, have to get a pollution certificate every 3 months, an underhand tax, failing which you pay heavy police fines. The tribunal then said," It has long been part of the common law of this country that manifestations of the State must act fairly and in good conscience with its citizens." Former Karnataka Chief Minister, Yedyurappa has been charged with taking bribes and in Gujarat, the Governor has bypassed the state government by appointing an ombudsman, Lokyukta in the state. Both are BJP governments. Not one person has been imprisoned or charged in Mumbai for the Adarsh Housing scam and in Delhi for the Commonwealth Games scam which are both Congress. The CBI has found no money trail linking the former telecom minister, Raja with the companies Reliance and Unitech thus clearing the way for charges against Raja being dropped. The DMK is an ally of Congress and has been taught a severe lesson for being impertinent. The Supreme Court has appointed a Special Investigation Team to investigate the riots in Godhra, Gujarat where a few hundred died but not one person has been hanged or even imprisoned for the Congress inspired slaughter of 10000 Sikhs. So powerful is the Congress that the BJP did not dare to investigate the Bofors scam when in power. Like a black widow the Congress sits inside a vast web of crime and corruption. India is helpless.
