Pakistani cricketers have created furore after being accused of taking part in ' spot fixing ' wherein they bowl a no ball or drop a catch as per the dictates of betting syndicates. Apparently the betting is controlled by gangs based in India where people are cricket crazy and where most of the money is generated. However it is still too early to write an obituary for the game. Las Vegas did not close down just because the mafia was heavily involved in running the casinos. Betting is controlled by criminals only because it is illegal in India. If it was made legal people could bet openly on outcomes of matches and not have to deal with criminal bookies. The state would also make a lot of money through taxes. Wherever there is money there will be criminals. Bollywood is said to be financed heavily by criminals such as Dawood which accounts for so many ' Minorities ' getting starring roles in Hindi movies. Sport is no exception. The richest sport in the world is, of course, football or soccer. So far there has been no major scandal in football but that does not mean that nothing is going on. It is possible that one of these days the mother of all scandals will be exposed in football. Cricket will die a slow death in India because there is too much of it. Sports channels show cricket throughout the day. If there is no live match they show repeats. Real sports such as rugby, boxing, american football, to name a few, are never shown. Thus sports channels save money by treating Indians as morons capable of understanding nothing except cricket. But what do they care? They are making money. And our politicians are criminals anyway.

To understand the criminal injustice system in India just follow how Ramalinga Raju of Satyam fame is slowly allowed to wriggle free. Raju confessed to embezzling billions of rupees from Satyam. This was done while he was still the chairman of the company and without duress. Since then the firm has been taken over and there is more than ample evidence to bury him for a hundred years. Bernie Madoff also confessed and is serving a 150 year sentence since last year. Raju has political connections so he will get off. Step 1. The case was handed over to the CBI. The sleuths run around all over the place, sometimes to the most expensive fleshpots of the world at taxpayers expense, hinting darkly at amazing discoveries. This goes on for decades giving the criminal time to threaten witnesses, bribe police into losing important evidence and bribe prosecutors and judges. Step 2. Withdraw the confession and get bail. In India justice is like coitus interruptus wherein the powerful are allowed to withdraw at the opportune moment. Raju has been allowed bail by the High Court. The CBI is wasting public money by contesting the bail at the Supreme Court. Step 3. Complain of chest pain and get admitted to a government hospital where the doctors are ever ready to suck up to get promoted. Mr. Lalu, Mr. Soren and every other fellow have been admitted to ICU where nothing is ever found. If by public outcry you are sentenced to a paltry six months for molesting and hounding a little girl to death then apply for parole to harvest your crops as Rathore is doing. Stop this charade, disband the CBI, use the courts only for divorces and property disputes and use the money saved to guard our borders. At least we get some bang for our buck.

Farmers across India are refusing to part with their land. Tata had to shift their Nano plant from Singur in Bengal, Posco's steel plant in Orissa has been delayed by 5 years while in Gorakhpur,UP a proposed nuclear power plant hangs in the air. In UP farmers are demanding ten times the offer price for the building of a highway. Bleeding hearts support the framers pointing to the rise in prices after a project is completed, with billions of rupees of tax payers money, which is totally false. Once a project, say a highway, is completed land prices alongside the road rocket because residential townships, factories and malls are built to take advantage of improved transport. Farmers in India are a protected breed getting billions of rupees in handouts every year. Farm income is totally exempt from income tax. Farmers are given loans by public sector banks at reduced interest rates and even these loans are forgiven before an election. The government buys wheat, rice, sugarcane and other produce at a price higher than the market rate under what is known as the ' minimum support price.' In between crops farmers can earn Rs. 100 a day under the NREGA scheme. These are only a few of the handouts that I know of. There could be hundreds of such schemes whereby they are stealing our taxes. And they have no responsibility towards the country. They continue to breed like rabbits and expect taxpayers to provide for exponentially growing numbers. On the other hand they have been cheated in the past when land was acquired under the Land Acquisition Act of 1894 passed by the British to loot Indians. Anyway no one trusts criminal politicians and thieving uncivil servants and therein lies the nub.

Pop artist Madonna is apparently so busy that each of her four children have to make appointments to meet her for fifteen minutes each. We remember the drama when she went to Africa wanting to adopt a child, the court case, interviews with news channels and the attendant publicity. Was that just to build her image and get some free publicity? She has he money to hire nannies for each child but, as every parent knows, the emotional needs of a child is not met by cosmetic mother. Porn king Larry Flynt is being sued by an AIDS activist group because male stars in his films were not wearing condoms thus encouraging risky behavior. They, apparently, saw one hundred porn movies to prove their point. Wow, they must have had a great time. Jennifer Aniston, a Hollywood star is going to appear topless in her next movie. She is said to be looking for a surrogate mother to have a baby. If only she had not refused to get pregnant when married to Brad Pitt she would not be so desperate now. The best item has to be the news that Paris Hilton wanted to be a nursery school teacher or a vet but sadly she became too famous. This snippet is next to a photo of Ms. Hilton in a larger G string and a see through jacket open at the front. These are the most interesting news items for people today. Studies show that young people are unable to read a book because they are unable to retain their attention for more than few minutes. This is because of the culture of messaging on cell phones and Twitter. A couple in South Korea allowed their baby to starve to death because they were so engrossed in playing video games. Are humans gradually regressing back towards monkeys? Can evolution go backwards?

A Public Interest Litigation or PIL in front of the Delhi High Court has revealed that criminals incarcerated in Tihar Jail are merrily using personal cell phones inspite of an earlier court order banning this practice. The judges expressed their displeasure at the jail authorities who pleaded helplessness. According to them the prisoners were resorting to a heinous practice of shoving cell phones into their anuses ( or should it be ani? ) to avoid detection by jail authorities. Once inside they were hiding these devices in flower pots. Two questions spring to mind: 1. How does a man insert an entire cell phone into his anus? The anal opening is a tight aperture that admits one index finger suitably lubricated with jelly. Patients find it uncomfortable. To shove an entire cell phone would certainly be a very painful exercise. The Court should have asked for a practical demonstration from the jail officials on how it is done and having inserted it how they got it out again. Having resided inside a man's rectum would the phone work again? Which of the many brands now available in the market is best suited to residing in a man's rectum? This could well be an advertising slogan - ' a phone which works as well in your pocket as in your rectum.' 2. Why are there so many flower pots inside the jail and why have not been removed? These men are criminals and have been sentenced inspite of India's notoriously incompetent and corrupt justice system. That makes them real bad eggs indeed. Why then are they being caressed with flowers? Criminals would have lots of money stashed away. Is this the lubrication facilitating the entry of cell phones into anuses?

A new report by the Asian Development Bank says that only 1 million Indians earn in excess of Rs. 10354/month and are in the rich category. On the same day a news report says that Foreign Direct Investment, FDI in real estate has jumped by 80 times in the 5 years between 2005 and 2010. In 2005 it was just Rs. 1.71 billion while in 2010 it was Rs. 135.86 billion. Over the entire five year period a total of Rs. 379.86 billion equivalent to $ 8.492 billion had been invested in the real estate market by foreign investors. This is serious money for a developing country such as India. That these figures are probably true is reflected by the rise in property prices. A ground floor two bedroom DDA flat in south Delhi is fetching offers of Rs. 25 million. The same flat would have cost around Rs. 3 million in 2001. In India half the cost of any property is paid in cash or ' black money.' One may obtain a bank mortgage on the other half. So even if one is allowed 80% mortgage it amounts to just 40% of the total cost. So 60% of the cost has to be paid at the beginning. On a flat costing Rs. 25 million this would be Rs. 15 million. If only one million people are earning more than Rs. 10354 per month what is driving such prices. One would expect the prices of properties to be driven by demand and supply so if the prices are so high there must be demand in the market. Anyone earning Rs. 10000/month can barely survive let alone afford even a one square foot of land. Which brings us to the question- where did ADB get its figures? Did the bank cook up the figures on its own or did we give them such silly data to get preferential loans? Curiouser and curiouser.

The Civil Nuclear Liability Bill is stuck in the parliament because the government cannot persuade at least some of the opposition gangs to support it and does not have the necessary numbers to go it alone. In the Hindustan Times today one Mr. Pramit Pal Chaudhuri explains the two parts of liability in case of an accident and argues persuasively for passing the bill. As he explains it the first part is a fixed sum which is to be paid to victims immediately regardless of blame. Because it does not fix liability for the accident it has to have a cap. The second part is where liability is decided and compensation awarded by courts. The opposition gangs say that this lets off suppliers of plant equipment and that they should be included in the mandatory compensation part of the bill. Mr. Chaudhuri explains that the bill does not exonerate the suppliers of equipment but leaves it to courts to decide liability and enables the government to set aside a sum to compensate victims without delay. India does not have the technical expertise to build the latest generation of nuclear reactors and foreign suppliers are a must. Also Indian firms will refuse to supply equipment so nuclear power will never be produced. The opposition gangs are not opposing the bill out of public interest but for narrow political gains. The Left hates the US while the BJP wants to score cheap points. This is what the Congress did when the BJP was in power. No one is telling the truth which is that the entire legal system in India is completely corrupt. From the CBI to the public prosecutor to judges all are controlled by criminal politicians. A nuclear accident will be a second Union Carbide, only bigger.

Today is Raksha Bandhan, an auspicious day for Hindus when girls tie a thread on the wrists of their brothers and pray for their good health and long life. It is fitting that on such a day there is some good news, that of the 33 miners trapped for 18 days in a gold and copper mine in Chile. They have stayed alive all this time on small quantities of tuna, milk and biscuits. The whole country rejoiced at the news of the men being found alive. Not such good news for girls in India though. While they are wishing long life for their brothers millions of girls are being killed before birth by medical abortion. In some parts of the country there are just 725 girls for every 1000 boys being born. It is not a male thing. This perversion is being driven by women. Certainly there is pressure on women to produce boys because, in India, parents depend on their sons to care for them in old age. Also there is the desire for continuing the family name but this is more than that. Here in north India women seem ashamed of their daughters even when they are alone. Little girls have their hair cut really short and are dressed like boys as if the mother is trying to hide the child's identity. If asked about the gender of a baby the mother cringes while revealing that it's a girl while swelling with pride if it's a boy. And this is not restricted to illiterate women. Educated women with high paying jobs also behave the same. These are modern women of the information age who have been to top schools where they studied with boys, they out competed the boys in exams and are now in responsible posts where men are working under them. They have been abroad. Why then has their mentality remained in in the past? Mystery.

The Asian Development Bank, ADB has released a study on middle classes in Asia. It has divided the population into five sections on the basis of monthly income per person. According to this study India has 825 million poor who earn Rs. 1035/month, lower middle class at 224 million on Rs. 1035-2070/month, middle middle class at 45 million on Rs. 2070-5177/month, upper middle class at 5 million Rs. 5177-10354/month and the rich who earn more than Rs. 10354/month number 1 million or just 0.0009% of the population. This is the greatest piece of rubbish I have read in a long while and it is difficult to know where the ADB got its figures from. This means that all government employees, whether central or state, are rich because even a sweeper in a sarkari office gets Rs. 12000/month while officers get near R. 100,000/month and there are millions of these thieving useless individuals in India. Even a one room with a tin roof in a small town will cost Rs. 1000 in rent while one with a cement roof will cost at least Rs. 2000. Transport will cast at least Rs. 20 a day or Rs. 600/month and at today's prices food will cost at least Rs. 2000/month. Add electricity, water, cosmetics, mobile phone bills and entertainment and it will not leave any change from Rs. 10000. Yet one million cars were sold last year, millions more two wheelers and companies selling durable goods report increasing profits. The government is reporting increasing tax collections. Ms. Mayawati was presented with garlands made with banknotes worth over 20 million rupees presented by ' dalits ' or the oppressed. If the oppressed have so much money clearly ADB is completely wrong.

After winning last year's general elections with blatant bribes with taxpayers money the Congress was praying for a good monsoon to bring down food price inflation so that they can continue their lies about caring for the aam aadmi. Well, their prayers were answered. It did not rain, it poured. Trouble is when construction is shoddy because of grand robbery then heavy rains peel away the coat of lime and expose the hidden warts. So it is with the Commonwealth Games and the infrastructure surrounding it. One smart shower and entire streets resemble ponds. Traffic comes to a complete halt. Huge potholes appear. Games stadiums leak. Now the river Yamuna is near danger levels. The games village has been built on low lying areas near the river. Mr. Kalmadi of the Congress refuses to resign unless told to do so by the Godmother who promises to punish naughty boys after the games are over. It is the tried and tested Congress strategy. Keep postponing until everyone has forgotten. So Sajjan Kumar, Sukhram, Quattrochi, all are still free. Elsewhere the UK based mining company,Vedanta was given permission to mine on tribal land in Orissa. Vedanta got permission in December 2008 under the Forest Conservation Act and in April 2009 under the Environment Protection Act and proceeded to violate both with impunity. Now, it seems, permission will be withdrawn. All very confusing. Who received what will never be known. Who gave these clearances to Vedanta? The previous government under the Congress of course. The Congress is the most successful syndicate in the world. The Ndrangheta could come for tuition.

A poll has shown that 18% of people in the US believe that Obama is muslim. They cite his speech in Cairo, his attempts at trying to talk to Iran, his tough stance with Israel and his support for a mosque at Cordoba House near ground zero in New York. The Jewish population is especially unhappy at what they see as unfair pressure on Israel. At least one third of people think that a muslim should not be allowed to run for President or for a seat on the Supreme Court. This is the country that goes round the world lecturing others on human rights and the right to practice any religion. Whatever the rights and wrongs people in the US have the freedom to discuss such issues. It is obvious that a lot of people do not buy the constant chant that Islam is a religion of peace when they can see that wherever there are more than 100 muslims in the world there is trouble and bloodshed. However such debate would be impossible in India because muslims, who make up about half the population and are breeding like flies, are classified as Minorities and have more rights than Hindus. This is called ' secularism.' Political gangs fight over how much more they can give to the muslims to get their votes. The freeloading, dishonest english press goes one step further branding Hindus as fundamentalists and comparing us to Al Qaeda. Any attempt at speaking the truth by pointing out that India is suffering constant terror attacks planned in Pakistan by muslims is shouted down and we are told to embrace these rabid dogs. One thing is certain. Indians are going to continue to die at the hands of Paki terrorists. There is only one cure for rabid dogs. Shoot them.

The last US combat brigade is pulling out of Iraq proclaiming victory. One young soldier loudly claimed that the US had brought democracy to Iraq. But has it really? Six months after elections there is no government in Baghdad because political parties cannot agree on power sharing. Violence is increasing, the last suicide bomber killed 61 at an army recruitment center. Sunni tribal leaders, who helped the US against Al Qaida, are being assassinated. Shias comprise 60% of the population and are mainly in the south. Sunnis and Kurds are about 20% each with Sunnis in the middle and Kurds in the north bordering Turkey. Oil wells are mainly in the south and some in the north so Shias and Kurds get rich on oil money but Sunnis get nothing. Others may feel that the Sunnis deserve it because they had unlimited power and wealth for decades while Saddam, who was a Sunni, ruled the country but regional Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia will not see it that way. Iran is to the east and will no doubt want to exert its influence and want a government which will cooperate with it. Thus Iran is strategically placed bordering on both Iraq and Afghanistan to create trouble for the Americans. Iran is racing to develop nuclear weapons as soon as possible and will tolerate any amount of economic pain that sanctions can bring because it feels that nuclear weapons are a protection against the might of the west as the immunity enjoyed by Pakistan and North Korea continues to show. Israel will not tolerate a nuclear Iran and may feel compelled to attack. Will the Sunni Arab states help Israel? The US created a mess by getting rid of Saddam and are now running away. Its enemies can now concentrate on Afghanistan which makes the US much more vulnerable than before.

Hugo Chavez is in the news again, this time for suppressing news. His government has ordered RCTV and six other cable tv channels off the air. Chavez came to power promising free goodies for the poor which has made him hugely popular and got him a second term easily. However, it is easy to promise free goodies but continuing it forever has bankrupted Venzuela, an oil exporting nation. To divert responsibility he has been blaming banks, private companies and even butchers for uncontrolled price rises and now blames the tv companies for showing piles of dead bodies in a city morgue because of an explosion of violent crime. Like any despot he sees free speech as his enemy. No wonder his best friend is Ahmadinejad of Iran whose Basij thugs kill and rape opponents. Meanwhile the ANC, which is the party of President Jacob Zuma, proposes a Media Appeals Tribunal to control the press. It also proposes to bring greater amount of news concerning the government under official secrets to prevent ' distortion of truth.' Well Mr. Zuma has managed to escape punishment, like all politicians, for alleged corruption and rape and, like Chavez, has been elected by promising goodies to the poor but is now finding that it is easy to dance at your fifth, or is it tenth, wedding but impossible to dole out money unless the poor control their birth rate. In India too the government wants to monitor all internet, mobile calls and messaging, the excuse being terrorism. Yet India is so vulnerable to terrorists because we have vulnerable borders, conduct business with enemies and turn victories into losses. Who is responsible? The government, who else.

Seems that Members of Parliament are demanding that their pay should be increased to three times the present level. MPs of all the gangs are united on this demand so the government has agreed to make it law during this session of the parliament. It is really galling that we have to pay a bunch of criminal parasites whose sole aim is to loot as much as possible and to hang on to their seats as long as possible. I would suggest that MP salaries should be increased by five times if they agree to the following conditions: 1. There will be no hidden allowances. MPs will have to pay in full their phone bills, travelling costs, rent for their flats, wages of police personnel for security and medical care. No palatial bungalows in Lutyens Delhi, no free travel for life, no pension, no security, no subsidised meals in the Parliament or any other hidden benefits that cost the taxpayer billions for each useless individual. As taxpayer I want complete transparency on what we spend on these scoundrels. 2. Term limits. No MP should be allowed more than two terms. 3. No one should be allowed to stand after the age of 65 years. 4. There must be no more than three parties in Parliament. A criminal forming a party and winning seats by terrorising people in an area has to stop. This leads to ' seat sharing ' as between Messrs Yadav and Paswan. 5. A committee of citizens, not related to any political gang and not retired government official, will decide the value of any particular MP and salary will be deducted for deficient service. Future rises will be determined by said committee. 6. Ministers may only be appointed from the Lok Sabha. Will I live to see my wishes fulfilled?

Unprecedented floods continue to displace tens of millions of people in Pakistan. The government, which is dysfunctional at the best of times, is unable to cope with the sheer scale of the disaster. Displaced people are getting increasingly desperate and angry as little or no help reaches them. The army which controls Pakistan and a major part of its economy is trying to distribute food and water but its efforts are grossly insufficient given the sheer scale of the disaster. Pakistan is desperately begging for assistance from abroad but little help is forthcoming. The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon has asked for at least $ 460 million but said that they have received barely a third of that amount. Comparisons are being made with the earthquake in Haiti and the Asian tsunami when billions of dollars were raised quickly by aid agencies, most of the money coming from donations made by individuals. This time though people are not willing to donate so governments are giving whatever they can spare in these recessionary times. The reason people are unwilling to help Pakistan is because it is an evil state. Everyone knows that it is the epicenter of terrorism in the world and they do not see why they should help these murderous swine to survive only to be paid back with bombs. Pakistan is making the usual noises which is that if it does not receive lots of money then people will take to terrorism but the world is not buying it. They know that any money it receives will be diverted by the army to terrorists and to buy weapons. Better to let the country implode now than a decade later when the population will have doubled because its people breed like swine. Better they kill each other than kill us.

Subsidy n. a sum of money given to help keep the price of something low. That is the dictionary meaning of the word ' subsidy ' but it seems that the constant lies told by the Indian government has brain washed even highly educated people into believing that something that is being sold at twice the fair value is actually being subsidised by the government. In an article in the Hindustan Times Abijit Banerjee, Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics and Director and Abdul Latif Jameel of the Poverty Action Lab, MIT argue that subsidies on diesel should be removed. They give the example of a man and a woman both going 10 km to work, the man travels by public bus while the woman drives in a Mercedes. Increasing the price of diesel by Rs. 20 would increase the cost of travel by Re. 1 for the man but by Rs. 80 for the woman in the merc thus subsidies are helping the rich woman more than the poor man. No one on a salary can afford a merc in India so the woman probably runs a business creating jobs for many. Indeed she may be employing the man in the bus. She pays high income tax, property tax, wealth tax and other taxes without getting anything in return. Possibly two thirds of the price of the merc was tax and she has paid enormous road tax. The price of diesel in the US varies from $ 2.964 to $ 3.183 per gallon which includes a tax of 16%. This works out to Rs. 30 a lit. The price of diesel in India today is Rs. 40.49 which means the woman in the merc has paid huge taxes to fill her tank. If economists in high posts do not understand the meaning of the word ' subsidy ' then their theories are bound to be rubbish. No wonder the economies in the world are in such a mess.

Today is Independence day for India. For our children it has meant that Sunday was a waste as they had to get up early in the morning, get into their uniforms and get to school where they sang ' Saare jahan se acha ' with lusty cheer and listened to their school principals jabbering on about being good honest citizens. Children of India must think that all adults are lying scoundrels. Wherever they look they see only thieves and thugs. They see their parents who work for the government, whether civil servants, police or judiciary, taking bribes. They see their business relatives cheating on taxes, selling substandard goods and boasting about the number of properties they have bought with the black money. They see all politicians are either criminals, thieves or shameless liars willing to sell themselves to anyone to stay in power. They see a Prime Minister sticking on to his seat inspite of a humiliating lack of respect, unwilling or unable to sack openly corrupt ministers within his government and defending the Commonwealth Games. They see a Railway Minister so callously indifferent to the death of people that she is holding election meetings while people are dying in rail accidents and extending a hand of friendship to Naxals who have murdered so many policemen in cold blood just to somehow grab the Chief Minister's post in Bengal. That is why young people today have little respect for anyone. After all, if you cannot respect your own parents who can you respect? Patriotism, honesty, honor, pride, respect do not come from speeches however eloquent they may be but from what they see. After all example is better than precept.

So, Obama has signed the bill victimizing Indian IT companies to pay for increased border patrols to police the US border with Mexico. At the same time Obama has felicitated India on its Independence Day, confirmed the special relationship between the two countries and expressed his eagerness to visit India later this year when he hopes to increase sales of arms made in the US. US Secretary for Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano has expressed her confidence that this law will not affect relations between our two nations. Indian business leaders have expressed unhappiness at the increase in visa fees which will affect only Indian companies. I think we should feel lucky that we are being asked to pay for border patrols only and not for all the arms, aircraft and money that the US gives to Pakistan to kill Indians. The US knows that the Congress gang is in power. The Congress functions on sycophancy, within the country members bow to the Family and abroad to every other country. This is the gang that has repeatedly given away all the victories that our poorly equipped armed forces have gained with great sacrifice thus encouraging Pakistan to rightly believe that they can attack and kill any number of Indians without any fear of retaliation. Even now just a year and a half after the Mumbai attacks our criminal politicians and thieving civil servants keep repeating that we cannot afford not to talk to Pakistan. Obama will come, our shameless lot will compete to lick his shoes and waste billions of our money to buy outdated US arms. Meanwhile the Pakis will be getting latest F16, smart bomb equipment, night vision goggles and other latest stuff. So far have survived attacks by our enemies. Will we survive the Congress?

While everyone is focused on the grand larceny that is the useless Commonwealth Games it has escaped people's notice that the games have been deliberately scheduled to coincide with the most holy Hindu festival namely Durga Puja, Ram Lila and Dussehra. The four days of Durga Puja are celebrated by all Hindus but mainly by Bengalis, Ram Lila is celebrated mainly in North India and Dussehra is for everyone. The Goddess Durga is worshiped at many sites in Delhi. The Puja in our colony, as elsewhere, is organised by Bengalis but I see Hindus of every description coming to offer Puja and join our festivities. This is one occasion where there is no Punjabi, Tamil, Oriya, upper caste or low caste. All unite in joyous celebration of the arrival of the Goddess. In Chittaranjan Park alone there are about half a dozen Pujas. Sadly this year that number has been reduced to just one by decree. Perhaps the Congress does not want people to stay away from the useless games and have empty seats at the stadiums. It is not just the people of Delhi that will be celebrating even foreigners will be drawn in to enjoy the wonderful festivities. Most people I know have no intention of wasting money on the useless games and be humiliated by the brutal Delhi police in the name of security. Would the Congress ban so called ' Minorities ' from holding their religious festivals? That would be unthinkable. Yet the Congress has no hesitation in violating the most holy festival in the Hindu calender perhaps to show its phony secularism and win votes of ' Minorities .' A cynical ploy. The Congress should understand that it will cease to exist if it is successful in wiping out Hindus because the ' Minorities ' will make no difference when slitting throats.

Oh the anguish and hand ringing in India over the increased charges on H1B visas that Indian companies use to take Indians to work at their offices in the US. Then there is the comment by a senator comparing Infosys, an admired Indian IT company, to a chop shop. We can easily dispense with the senator. He is a typical rude, uncouth, uncultured, arrogant american who thinks he is entitled to abuse and bully anyone he pleases. However, his barbaric behavior is not focused. He is one of those people who would not vote for extension of unemployment benefits for their own people, support the killing of innocent students by their mindless support of the gun lobby and would want to deny basic health care to babies whose parents are too poor to pay for insurance. The increased visa charges are more problematic because it seems to single out India. Our politicians led by the Congress are hurt. These people have done so much to suck up to the US over decades and this is the reward they get. They allowed Union Carbide to get off so lightly, have been trying to protect US companies supplying equipment for nuclear power plants, crawling on their knees to Pakistan inspite of repeated attacks on our citizens and bowing in supplication as the US supplies billions of dollars of military hardware to Pakistan to kill more Indians. Obama will be visiting India in a couple of months. We should see him as he is - a gasbag whose sole ambition is to get a second term regardless of how he does it. Therefore, while treating him politely as a guest we should tell him clearly where to get off. Unfortunately our lot are too used to bending.

Lots of heat on television news channels over whether super model Naomi Campbell did or did not receive a gift of ' blood diamonds ' from Charles Taylor who is on trial at the International Criminal Court for his crimes in Liberia. Testifying under oath Naomi Campbell was honest saying that she was a reluctant witness and that she just wanted to get it over with and get on with her life. She testified that she did not know who Charles Taylor was or anything about Liberia. This may be because she is stupid, which is not a crime, or that she has no interest in world news and current affairs. She met the man at a party in Nelson Mandela's house so she must have assumed that all guests had been vetted and trusted Mr. Mandela not to associate with an especially heartless man whose followers went around chopping limbs of two year olds. If she had never heard of Liberia then she would not be aware of ' blood diamonds ' and how they were being used to finance war between various factions. From what is being reported it seems that the prosecution has no real evidence which can link Taylor to the atrocities and they are relying solely on trying to prove that he trafficked in illegal diamonds which is why all the focus on Ms Campbell. The entire diamond business in the world is illegal anyway. All diamonds go through a clearing house in London making it the center of the largest cartel in the world. This is why diamonds are so expensive which is reflected in the fact that resale value of a stone is almost nothing whereas gold always sells at the current market price for bullion. Anyway as long as Tony Blair is roaming free why are they after small fry? Is it because he is an African?

Very difficult to understand the pundits. If it was something about particle physics or some distant galaxy we could just shrug our shoulders and carry on but economics affects all of us and the same pundits constantly keep telling us how the world is now a global community so what happens in one country affects everyone. After the severe recession in 2008 the world is recovering. Recovery in the US is weak though still growing but Japan is experiencing deflation. Yet the yen is getting stronger everyday against the dollar. The rate today is 85.99. We are told that the US prints too many dollars but Asian countries like China buy up dollar securities to keep it stronger than it deserves to be in order to increase exports to the US. So Americans should save more and the US should stop printing dollars while the Chinese should spend more while China should allow its currency to strengthen. Why then is Japan unable to print more yens in order to make it weaker than other currencies? The Japanese government's debt is said to be twice the GDP so the government is unable to pump prime the economy by increasing spending. The Bank of Japan, BOJ is holding interest rates at 0.1% and is unable to take further monetary measures. It has tried to stimulate lending by offering loans to banks at low rates of interest but banks are not interested because businesses are unwilling to make any large capital expenses. To me the solution seems simple. The BOJ should print more currency and retire old expensive debts. This would reduce interest payments by reducing debt and inject liquidity into the system which would encourage inflation. Inexplicable.

A convicted murderer, Pappu Yadav serving a life sentence was allowed out on bail by the Patna High Court and has, unsurprisingly, gone missing. Was he allowed out against the orders of the Supreme Court because he is related to a fellow supporting the Congress government in Delhi? Contrast this with the treatment being meted out to Mr. Amit Shah of Gujarat because of the shooting by the police of Sohrabuddin, a known gangster who was supplying weapons to terrorists. Law is what is convenient to the Congress. The Supreme Court has said that the decision of Patna High Court amounted to contempt of the Supreme Court. So will the judges be punished for being in contempt of the highest court in the land? Perish the thought. Judges pronounce judgements from on high and are always above the law. Now contrast this with the two journalists who exposed how Justice Sabbarwal was ordering the sealing of high street stores to prefer a company building shopping malls because his sons worked in the very same company. All the stores have since been allowed to open. A judge of the Delhi High Court held the two journalists in contempt of the court and sentenced them to jail. This was done by a process called ' suo motu ' which allowed the judge to jail citizens of the country without due process, without a proper trial and without the opportunity of mounting a defence. Biti Mohanti, a rapist, is still enjoying a free life because the police cannot find him because his father is chief of police. The law is only to persecute the defenceless while police and the judiciary protect real criminals. Justice Indian style.

Oh what joy! Direct tax collections from April to July has risen15.7% compared to last year, from Rs. 739.9 billion to Rs. 856.47 billion. Corporate tax has shot up by 21% from Rs. 426.85 billion to Rs. 516.27 billion while personal income tax has grown 8.5% from Rs. 312.79 billion to Rs. 339.40 billion. Impressive figures supporting the government's claim of 9% growth. The other way of looking at it is that the government desperately needs to raise cash because it is bankrupt and that is why it wants growth at any cost even though inflation is above 10% and rising. And that is why the Reserve Bank, RBI is not allowed to raise interest rates as much and as fast as it should. According to the banking secretary to the finance ministry, Mr. R. Gopalan banks are saddled with large amounts of Non Performing Assets or NPAs in the real estate sector. Loans to real estate companies have had to be rescheduled and the government does not want any more restructuring. Till March of last year the exposure of banks to the real estate sector was Rs. 915 billion. This year's figure is not given. If interest rates go up housing loans will become costly and the real estate sector would suffer. Banks could then be in danger of losing vast sums of money as loans turn sour. As the government earns enormous sums of money from the profits of public sector banks this could dry up. Also a lot of the black money politicians have invested in properties would disappear. The trouble is that unless property prices drop by 70 to 80% from the present fairy tale levels inflation can never be controlled. So either lose money or people die of starvation. Can this be called a conundrum?

In a hilarious bit of news our most revered Finance Minister was interrupted by a telemarketer offering him a home loan during a meeting. Apparently he was very angry. The I & B minister has cleverly registered herself at a special site which blocks all unwanted calls but gets text messages instead. She said, ' So I am not getting those calls but getting SMSes on real estate in dozens .......' Opposition politicians are also getting such calls. ' It has become a big nuisance as I am receiving about 30 to 40 unwanted calls a day,' said a BJP leader. Unwanted telemarketing calls are annoying for all of us but I am forced to offer excuses for these fellows. They are just following the money trail which they have been taught to do. They know that politicians are accumulating astronomical sums of black money and the only avenue of investing such sums is the property market. That is why property prices in India match and often surpass those in New York, London and Tokyo. In fact these fellows are providing a service by alerting politicians about available properties so that they can take advantage of introductory offers. Meanwhile, someone with the tongue twisting title of Union Urban Development Minister has said that charges of loot at the Commonwealth Games are unsubstantiated. ' These are sweeping unsubstantiated complaints. There could be corruption. But if any specific issues are brought to our notice now, or later, stringent action will be initiated immediately.' Bravo. But, er, remember Sukhram and Bofors and Petrol Pump license scam and Manu Sharma and .......? Why not answer those telemarketing calls on new properties?

Is it possible that human beings can sink below the level of the cesspit? Yes, Indians have already reached that level. One retired Lt. General S. K. Sahni will be facing court martial for procuring poor quality rations for troops serving at high altitudes in Jammu and Kashmir. These are troops facing treacherous Pakistanis across a hostile border. The ministry of defence bought six helicopters from the US Navy for over Rs. 1.82 billion. These had been manufactured between 1961 and 1965 and decommissioned in 2005. Naturally they were totally defective and spare parts are not available so one chopper has already been cannibalized to supply parts to repair others. Then there is the mother of all scams, the Commonwealth Games. Originally thought to be held for Rs. 70 billion they are now going to cost over Rs. 350 billion and counting. Everyday brings a new revelation of blatant theft. Roads and pavements have been dug up and laid several times and are still uneven. Perfectly good lampposts were removed and replaced with ones leaning to one side. Stadiums are leaking and wire are left exposed. Playing areas are poorly surfaced. Treadmills are being rented for 1000 times the going rate. Tennis court surfacing is being done by an Australian firm employing the son of one of the officials who has resigned today. Mr. Kalmadi is constituting a panel to investigate the charges which is like asking robbers to investigate thieves. Delhi has a state government and the central government. What were the politicians doing? Without doubt taking a large chunk of the pie. Will they be hanged? What a joke! Both have Congress gangs in power and the Congress is the most successful syndicate in the world.

The leaders of the Congress gang have told members to stop airing their differences in public. ' Politics is not a vehicle for fulfilling personal ambitions. There are times when inflated egos, baseless notions and overrated views dominate actions of certain people. ...... politics of social responsibility cannot be left to the whims of certain individuals.' Quite. In other words do not have independent thought. The entire gang should concentrate on the elevation of one family on to a pedestal regardless of merit or past betrayal of the country. Kneel down, touch your head to the ground and obey orders if you want to get a ticket to fight the next elections regardless of the crimes you have committed and are committing right now. Power controls the exchequer and the entire legal structure thus giving complete unaccountability. To remain in power is to shut your eyes to criminal sale of licences and loot of funds for third rate games. Instead use law enforcement to hound the only relatively honest chief minister because of the killing of a criminal terrorist because the people might be misled into demanding honesty from every politician. Then where will we be? Talking of Congress, Mrs.Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Rahul Gandhi had to rush to the US to see Mrs. Gandhi's mother who was taken ill last week. We hope the old lady made a complete recovery and pray that she lives to be 150 years old. However this was an absolutely personal visit and Mrs. Gandhi's mother is not a citizen of India. We hope, therefore, that not a single paisa of taxpayer money was spent on the visit and it was funded from Mrs. Gandhi's own fortune. RTI application anyone?

To think that India spends billions of rupees to elect this farce called ' parliament.' For the whole of last week not a single jot of work was done because opposition members continued to create mindless uproar over soaring prices in the country. To spare any humiliation to Congress which is responsible for the misery the speaker would not allow any vote on the topic. The opposition members, thinking that the people are stupid, saw this as an opportunity to score a few cheap points. There was no debate, no thoughtful logical speeches, no discussion of the financial situation, no detailed figures showing levels of inflation and the effect it is having on people, no offer of solution to ease the suffering of the public, just mindless noise and walk outs. The opposition could easily have called for a no confidence motion which the speaker would be compelled to grant but they did not. Two reasons why. The Congress challenged the opposition gangs to reduce prices by cutting taxes in the states they control which would be impossible. The reason is that state governments are as bankrupt as the central one, in some cases more so. Reducing taxes mean reduced income which means less money to loot and misuse. A simple example beautifully illustrates the lies. Exxon Mobil has just reported $ 7 billion in profit for the last quarter while state owned oil firms in India are going to make losses of Rs. 570 billions this fiscal. This when petrol costs Rs. 30/ lit in the US and Rs. 55/lit in India. The difference is taxes. The second reason why the opposition chickened out is because a victory would mean new elections and that is when people are waiting with chappals. Then again perhaps it is a good thing that these criminals are not working. Anything they do is bound to be terrible for the people and the country.

In lessons learnt from the British the Congress has managed to stay in power by the principle of divide and rule. To support its false claims of secularism it enacted special laws for so called Minorities and divided the Hindus along caste lines by giving special privileges to certain castes who were designated as Scheduled Castes or SC Scheduled Tribes or ST and Other Backward Castes or OBC. People belonging to these castes could get into elite colleges with very low marks, paid less fees, were preferred for government jobs and were promoted over upper caste officers even though patently unfit. People of these castes are collectively known as Dalits. More laws made it almost a crime to be born an upper caste. Thus if a Dalit abuses an upper caste it is simple abuse but if the upper caste uses the same words in return then it becomes caste abuse and attracts higher penalty. Naturally caste became central to Hindu society and anyone marrying into the wrong caste risks getting killed. The Chief Minister of UP, lovingly known as the Dalit Queen, mandated that government schools should employ Dalits as cooks to provide the midday meal to students. Not only did upper caste children refuse to eat meals cooked by Dalits but one caste of Dalits refused meals cooked by another caste. Chamars, SC refused Kharwar, ST and vice versa. Chamars, SC remain separate from Valmikis also SC. Dhobis, SC reacted violently to food cooked by Valmiki,SC. Everyone is happy with food cooked by upper caste. In order to win the next election the Congress is planning reservation for Minorities. How long before there are riots between different religious groups for special favors? India faces many dangers but criminal politicians are the most dangerous.

and vice versa.

Glory be. All the oil in the Gulf of Mexico, all those billions of barrels, that were supposed to devastate the fishing industry and the wetlands, has suddenly disappeared. Vanished without a trace. One day talk is of decades of pollution, death of all marine life, communities ravaged by loss of jobs, hound Tony Hayward and drive BP to bankruptcy and the next day there is no oil. The news anchor at CNN this morning was trying very hard. She had two experts who sounded positive and optimistic. One was of the opinion that the oil had genuinely gone. Oil is a volatile substance, lots of dispersant had been used, the effect of bacteria in the water and the dispersing effect of wind and tide had all helped. The anchor tried her best. Could the oil be hiding somewhere to emerge later? If the oil sinks to the lower levels where oxygen levels are low then it could hang around for very long time but if it stays in the aerobic layer of water it disperses very quickly was the answer. Could a lot of the oil have entered the food chain already? Possible but doubtful. Could the chemicals used to disperse oil have entered the food chain? The answer was ' don't know.' Such vast quantities of dispersants have never before been dumped into the ocean so we have to wait to see if they turn up in fish and oysters. Question is what does it do to US and British relations? The Obama administration treated BP very harshly forcing the company to pay out billions of dollars so that BP has reported $ 17 billion of losses in the last quarter. British pension funds are dependent on BP dividends so it is going to hurt British pensioners. Perhaps this will force the British to abandon their slave status and be free once more.
