Master escape artist Silvio Berlusconi has been charged with having sex with an underage prostitute named Karima el Mahroug by magistrates in Milan. He is also said to have used his position to free Ms Mahroug from police detention where she was being held on charges of theft. He says that he thought her to be the then President Mubarak's granddaughter and so was obliging a fellow head of state. Mubarak is a billionaire worth between $ 4-50 billion so his granddaughter is hardly likely to be going around with the nickname of " Ruby the heart stealer " and be arrested for minor theft. Berlusconi says that the charges are politically motivated accusing the Milan magistrates of being part of a left wing conspiracy. Is he going to resign? Never. He uses his media empire to slander his opponents and entered politics to be able pass laws to protect his skin. Will his partners in the coalition government throw him out in disgust? Not a chance. They wan to stay in power for as long as possible and will do anything to avoid elections which may mean loss of power. This will be extremely familiar to all Indians. A MLA in UP, PN Dwivedi is accused of raping a 17 year old girl but says he is innocent because he suffers from diabetes and hypertension which make him impotent. Raja faces charges of bribery in allocation of telecom licenses while Deshmukh has been reprimanded by the Supreme Court for interfering with police proceedings against the money lender father of a Congress politician but the Congress protects them because of " compulsions of coalition politics." Politics seems to be natural haven for criminals all over the world.
