Britain must be very happy. India became independent in 1947 and Israel in 1948. Whether Mountbatten or
Balfour the formula for both countries was the same. India had east and west Pakistan on either side while Israel has the West Bank and the Gaza strip. India has been weak and has allowed a fanatic terrorist state to become strong while Israel has been strong and has, for the most part, kept Palestinians under check. Israel's strength lies in its military prowess and the support of the US where it has the most powerful lobby group in the world. Britain, which unfairly struts the world stage as the slave country of the US, has never liked it. The announcement of 1600 new buildings in East Jerusalem during Vice President Biden's visit has resulted in great tension between the US and Israel. The Palestinians have been quick to take advantage and refused to attend Proximity talks unless settlements are stopped and Netanyahu was badly snubbed by President Obama. The US keeps harping on a two state solution to the conflict as if a viable Palestinian state will stop attacks on Israel. Like Hezbollah Hamas is an outreach of Iran and will never settle for a peaceful Jewish state. In fact if Palestine becomes an independent country it will have sovereign rights to import weapons. Even now Iran is supplying weapons to Hamas in Gaza through tunnels from Egypt. An unchecked Palestine will be a million times more dangerous. The only solution that may guarantee safety for Israel is to make Palestine a UN protectorate with permissions to have small arms for policing. Two state solution has resulted in death for Indians and will kill Israel.
