President Obama wants to fight the might of the big banks who were responsible for the deep recession of last year. For one year he has done nothing allowing the thugs, racists and airheads of the other side to set the tone of the debate. He has not closed Guantanamo, he has not got rid of the military tribunals, he has not passed his healthcare plan, he has made no advance in the middle east, he has not made Pakistan any safer and, crucially, he has not held Bush responsible for the financial mess that exploded. The result has been the loss of the senate seat in Massachusettes which had been held by the Kennedys for 56 years. Now it looks that the Democrats are going to lose control of both the House and the Senate later this year. At the same time the right wing Supreme Court has removed the ceiling on ' political contributions ' by corporates meaning unlimited capacity to buy lawmakers. This will allow banks to use their mega profits for ' lobbying ' which means bribing lawmakers. So now he wants to fight. Madeleine Albright would approve. She was always challenging men on the size of their cojones, probably because hers were bigger. Now is the chance for Mr. Obama to prove that he measures up.
