A convicted murderer, Pappu Yadav serving a life sentence was allowed out on bail by the Patna High Court and has, unsurprisingly, gone missing. Was he allowed out against the orders of the Supreme Court because he is related to a fellow supporting the Congress government in Delhi? Contrast this with the treatment being meted out to Mr. Amit Shah of Gujarat because of the shooting by the police of Sohrabuddin, a known gangster who was supplying weapons to terrorists. Law is what is convenient to the Congress. The Supreme Court has said that the decision of Patna High Court amounted to contempt of the Supreme Court. So will the judges be punished for being in contempt of the highest court in the land? Perish the thought. Judges pronounce judgements from on high and are always above the law. Now contrast this with the two journalists who exposed how Justice Sabbarwal was ordering the sealing of high street stores to prefer a company building shopping malls because his sons worked in the very same company. All the stores have since been allowed to open. A judge of the Delhi High Court held the two journalists in contempt of the court and sentenced them to jail. This was done by a process called ' suo motu ' which allowed the judge to jail citizens of the country without due process, without a proper trial and without the opportunity of mounting a defence. Biti Mohanti, a rapist, is still enjoying a free life because the police cannot find him because his father is chief of police. The law is only to persecute the defenceless while police and the judiciary protect real criminals. Justice Indian style.
