Pushed to the right.

"Today...the far-Right is no longer a fringe in European politics: Populist anti-establishment parties are gaining ground across the continent. The latest one is Geert Wilders and his far-Right Party for Freedom (PVV)" which won 37 of the 150 seats in the Dutch parliament with 23% of vote share, wrote Harsh V Pant & Shairee Malhotra. Georgia Meloni and her Brothers of Italy party is the first far-Right party in power in post-war Italy, the Finns party is in power in Finland, Victor Orban in Hungary, the Austrian Freedom party is strong in Austria and "in Germany. the Alternative for Germany (AfD) is ahead of Chancellor Olaf Sholz's Social Democrats". "The surge in the far-Right's popularity can be attributed to the 2008 financial crisis and the 2015 immigration crisis." "Argentina elected right-wing libertarian Javier Millei as its new president" with "some 56% of the vote versus just over 44% for his rival, Peronist Economy Minister Sergio Massa who conceded. Left wing policies have bankrupted the nation and yet over 44% of people want to continue with them. Millei "will have to deal with the empty coffers of the government and central bank, a creaking $44 billion debt program with the International Monetary Fund, inflation nearing 150% and a dizzying array of capital controls." "In fact, since 2001, Argentina has defaulted on its international sovereign debt three times - the first time in December 2001 in the midst of a very serious financial crisis, in 2014, in the middle of a battle against holdout creditors, and in 2020, in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic." European Parliament. In 2014, "A top court of the European Union has annulled the bloc's decision to keep the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on a list of terrorist groups." BBC. Even after the murderous Hamas attack on Israeli civilians members of the EU wanted a ceasefire (Vox) which would allow Hamas to keep torturing the hostages it has captured and provide it with time to replenish its food and arms supplies. This despite, "The brutality and elation of Hamas militants as they killed Israeli civilians - including babies, young children and the elderly - is evident in an Israeli government compilation of videos shown to two dozen journalists in New York." NBC. In the US, 56% of Democrats and 59% of Biden voters say that Israel's response to Hamas's butchery has been too much. NPR. In 2015, Chancellor Angela Merkel allowed some 800,000 Muslim refugees from Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria to flood into Germany. Reuters. In a natural reaction, "Racism, hatred and sometimes violence against Muslims in Germany are widespread and often part of their everyday experience." AP. Pant and Malhotra appear to mourn the rise of the far-Right but fail to see that it people are pushed to the right by the excesses of the leftists who impose their extreme ideology with disastrous results. After the Hamas attack in Israel will Germans ever feel safe? Governments should be for everyone. Not just the minorities.
