Let's up the ante.

Indian boxer Sarita Devi has been suspended for refusing to accept the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Incheon, Korea in protest against blatant cheating by the judges who awarded the bout to a South Korean woman. In addition, 3 coaches and India's Chef de Mission at the games have also been suspended. This is a typical reaction by bullies - we will do what we want, however illegal or unethical it maybe, but if you dare to protest we will react with violence. All sports associations are extremely corrupt and the Indian ones are especially so. In India politicians and ex-government officials, who are rotten to the core, control all sports. Our wrestling delegation at the London Olympics had 3 wrestlers and 5 officials so that there was no place for a physiotherapist, absolutely vital for a contact sport like wrestling. That is why there is every possibility that they will grovel to AIBA and throw Sarita Devi to the wolves to get their own suspensions lifted. There have been allegations of corruption against the International Olympic Committee and the British have openly accused FIFA officials of accepting bribes from Qatar to award the 2022 Football World Cup to that country. Players spend everyday in training, have to stick to extremely rigorous diets and are forced to spend months away from families to earn money for the sports associations. They sacrifice the pleasures of normal life for years, for a chance at glory for themselves and the country they represent, and are treated as slaves. Apart from an occasional superstar, such as Sachin Tendulkar. Since they spend whole days in training and sports careers are short they should be paid handsomely, with lifetime medical insurance and pensions, so that they do not suffer penury once their careers end. The West Indies cricket players have been asking for higher match fees for ages, with little success it seems. They decided to cut short their tour to India and flew back to the West Indies. BCCI officials have been threatening all kinds of punishments for the West Indies players because apparently BCCI has suffered some financial loss. Sports has been reduced to money, controlled by greedy scoundrels, and players have been reduced to commodities. We cannot expect any justice for Ms Sarita Devi unless one of our billionaires takes personal interest. Show the video to judges of professional boxing or to famous commentators, such as Al Bernstein, and ask them to score the contest. If they award the bout unanimously to Sarita Devi file a criminal case of cheating against AIBA in Lausanne, Switzerland where it is based. AIBA will be powerless against an individual and the possibility of criminal guilt will concentrate minds wonderfully. Money is power. Show the crooks we will not be pushed around.
