The one hundredth year of Delhi becoming the national capital of India has started. It is said that the mythical capital Hastinapur was situated where Delhi is now. It was destroyed because of the immense meanness, greed, and total lack of just rule by its physically, mentally and spiritually blind king who lost his kingdom, one hundred sons and the lives of thousands of his subjects in the battle of Kurukshetra. Even Lord Krishna in person failed to transform his embittered soul.Present Delhi is not much different. It is the political capital of India and as such is full of politicians, pushers and pimps. Black money and show off substitute for culture. People are rude, aggressive and habitual liars. In spite of all their superficial wealth and loud boast they are most miserable and delight in harassing strangers for no gain. To recognise a true Dilliwallah just ask directions to any well known place. He will either pretend ignorance or deliberately send you the wrong way. Women are no better. Foul mouthed, ill tempered and mean they seem to lack any fineness or breeding that makes a woman attractive. A true Dilliwallah will sell his mother for money. It is no wonder that every foreign invader from Tughlak to Nadir Shah, from Baber to the British chose Delhi as their capital knowing that they could count on the people to support them in their rape of India. Crime is rampant, any lone woman is fair game for molesting or rape and the police are gangsters in uniform, more interested in collecting bribes than protecting the helpless. They refuse to register violent crimes to reduce work load. The best view of Delhi is from the air when you are leaving it.
