So two murderers have at last been convicted no thanks to our law enforcement agencies but solely due to public pressure. The son of the policeman was sentenced to hang while the son of the politician was sentenced to only 14 years in prison and will no doubt be released much before his date of release if his father has anything to do with it. His photo in the newspaper with a big grin on his face without the slightest bit of remorse or fear says it all. Meanwhile what about those who have managed to keep these bastards free for so long. It is not simply a case of fatherly love or misplaced sense of friendly loyalty. These are cases of subversion of the criminal justice system without which no nation can survive. Thus these were anti national acts and the perpetrators should be stripped of all post that they hold and sent to prison for a very long time. That this will not happen is the reason why a low level of anarchy prevails in India today. 'Sab chalta hai, it is part of the game' is a common refrain. If you were to point out that lying and cheating are criminal offences and not a game people, at least in the Hindi belt, will look at you as though you are completely insane. Punishment for politicians, civil servants and police must be double that of common people and they must be permanently stripped of office. But who will bell the cat?

Tuesday the 13th was a day of shocks. I have recently joined this new hospital in a small kingdom in the Middle East. The Health Minister was to inaugurate the hospital that morning. Shock no. 1 - she was bang on time. By 10 am all the guests were assembled and at exactly 10.15 am there she was as scripted. Contrast this with Indian politicians. Every year schools across Delhi have prize distribution days in May and children are kept waiting for hours in the boiling May sun by two bit politicians who are always more than an hour late. Every year tens of children collapse with heatstroke. If one has not died yet it may happen soon. Shock no. 2. Not a gun in sight. No Z squared security, no goons in uniform toting AK47s, no confiscation of cameras, no abusive restriction on car parking and not even a toy gun anywhere. The Minister came without any fanfare, inspected the hospital, shook hands with everyone and departed after an hour smiling charmingly all the while. The contrast with my country could not have been more stark or shaming. And they say the Middle East is the most dangerous place on the planet.

The Sensex has reached the dizzying heights of 14000 starting from around 3000 just after the dot com collapse. At the same time all the major indices have struggled to get up to the levels they reached around the time of the dotcom boom. Thus the DOW is just above 12000, the FTSE and the DAX have breached 6000 while the Nikei is still to get above 17000. Naturally the politicians are going around saying what a great job they are doing and how the economy will keep on growing like some dinosaur egg. About a decade ago the Nikei was trading above 35000 and the real estate sector in Japan was booming due to excess liquidity and Yakuza money being laundered into the construction sector. When the bubble burst the Nikei fell to below 10000 and Japan went into a long period of deflation resulting in bankruptcies and increasing unemplyment. Only today is Japan beginning to see the first signs of growth and the Bank of Japan has very timidly raised interest rate from 0 to 0.25%. Are there any parallels with India where land prices have increased by over 100% in the last few years. Plunder of the increasing tax collections can not be invested legitimately and land is the only avenue of hiding black money. I wonder if we will see a repeat of Japan. Only we have no Koizumi to rescue us.

So another humiliating defeat to South Africa. I am consistently amazed that people in India still want to watch defeat after defeat. It is no fault of the players that people exalt them to superstar status an build up expectations to unrealistic levels. I am sure that every batsman wants to score a hundred abd every bowler wants to take 5 or more widkets. after all there is big money to be made and that is the best incentive but unfortunately they are not good enough. Would any of the present team, except Dravid, be picked to play for Australia or South Africa? I think not. Along with the mediocrity is the lack of pridein playing for the country and giant bubble egos built up by public adulation and ready to collapse at the slightest criticism and being rotated out of the team. Apart from Gavakar the World Cup winning team of the 80shad no world class players but played with passion for team and country which brought them success. Another World Cup is a few months away. What are the chances that India do not make it out of the group stages? If that happens maybe the idiots will stop watching cricket on tv and allow us to watch some real sports such as rugby, boxing and American Football at prime time.

Accompanied my wife to the American Embassy in Delhi for an interview. It is on Shanti Path where most of the embassies are present. You have to go round the back of the embassy where the road is partially blocked off at both ends. Sadistic private guards armed with truncheons and shrill whistles prevent anyone from stopping on the pavement. Cars are not allowed to park. They take great pleasure in harassing Indian citizens in their own capital city on roads that the tax payers have paid for. This is overseen by Delhi police at their most rough and brutal. Delhi police's answer to terrorist threats is to treat Indians like dirt in their own capital city. There is no place to sit. People are made to stand for hours and herded into a line like cattle. My wife had to stand for three hours before she faced the official. She was given an appointment at 12.30 PM at which time it was lunch so most of the counters were closed with only two counters working. She finally got out at 3.30 PM and reached home after 4 PM completely exhausted. I wonder if our embassy in Washington treats natives the same way. I would like someone to let me know. Of course we are elated and eternally grateful that she was granted a multiple entry visa. If there was a God for American visa I would offer some flowers. 'Dogs and Indians not allowed' was printed outside Metro Cinema in Calcutta during British times. Independence? What independence?

So Al Jazeera has started an English channel all over the world. I have been saying that India should have a free 24 hour news channel broadcasting all over the world. For years we have been fed with western propaganda masqurading as news by BBC, CNN and channels of their ilk. Their news stories are biased and they interview people who spout the answers they want and the questions are designed to get such answers. For instance after the Gujarat earthquake BBC was interviewing only white British aid workers who were minuscule in number, almost all the work being done by Indians themselves. Very sensibly the Indian authorities declined foreign help when the tsunami struck preferring to do without such stupid charade. So present stories on BBC show how the state has failed the victims of the tsunami. However the best example of propaganda on so called news cannels is the Iraq war where the correspondents were embedded with US marines. What does it mean? Was it a homosexual orgy on a gigantic scale or were women also in bed with the US army. Will there be videos of their carryings on on the internet like that of Britney Spears? Normally I am not interested in such things but this I gotta see. If we had a news channel broadcasting in major languages we could present our point of view on important events such as the reorganisation of the UN Security Council and the WTO. Unfortunately if we did so our slimy politicians and civil servants will have less excuse to take off for foreign climes with their fat, ugly wives and loutish children. We lurk behind a dark cloud.

A few days ago I drove from Dehradun to Delhi on so called National Highway 58. This goes past Roorkee and Deoband in Uttaranchal into UP where you go past the criminal triangle of Mozaffarnagar, Meerut and Ghaziabad. Three years ago there was one police check post at the botder of UP and Uttaranchal and one at a place called Mohand where the road starts to climb to Dehradun through very picturesque Rajaji National Park. Today, however, there are at least six additional check posts with police obstruction and long lines of trucks obstructing half the road forcing traffic to a crawl. I was told that to bring Rs 1000 worth of goods to sell in Dehradun you have to pay a total of about Rs. 2000 in bribes at the numerous check posts. As for UP it is the toile of India while Bihar is the cesspit. The road was full of pot holes which have not been repaired since the end of the monsoons. At two places workmen had blocked of half the road for repairs. Work naturally started after 9 AM which is the busiest time and was proceeding at less than snails pace. It took seven hours to get to my destination a mere 250 km distance which translates to an average speed of about 36 km/ hour. India imports 100 million tonnes of crude a year and it is easy to see the enormous savings that would generate if the politician, civil servant, contractor is smashed. A lot of foreigners go to Dehradun and Rishikesh along this highway of shame. Politicians and civil servants are proud of our progress.

That time of the year is here again when we start the yearly circus called thae budjet. This gives the finance minister to simper and pout in print and on tv. He is the star as chiefs of various industries come to him hat in hand for tax concessions. This is also the time for him to fine tune his instruments of torture against the citizen, consumer and tax payer. Every year sees a change in rate and nature of taxes. For instance one year capital gains will taxed at 10%, next year long term gains will become tax free while short term gains will pay 30% while the year after you may avoid taxes by investing in infrastructure bonds and so it goes on. The result is that the ordinary man is always confused and in a state of tension. It is impossible to understand the intricacies which keep changing and totally impossible to make any long term financial plans for retirement or children's education. It gives chartered accountants and tax lawyers a regular source of income but the biggest beneficiaries are the income tax officers. They resist any effort to simplify the tax structure because they can earn huge amounts in bribes by terrifying anyone and their lives unbearable. ' Scrutiny ' is a terrifying word for every honest citizen of this country. The rumour is that tax officers pay upto Rs. 10 million for a lucrative posting eg to Mumbai. If yearly budjet is abolished and their are easy uniform tax rates we would not mind paying but this gulag scenario is intolerable.

India has the highest taxes in the world. Direct taxes start at around 2000 dollars per annum and the highest rate kicks in at around 3300 dollars. Then there are a variety of indirect taxes such as excise duties, value added tax, central sales tax, octroi and many others to suck the bloodless citizens. What makes all this taxation unbearable is the fact that we get nothing for paying. For instance 60% of a car's value consists of taxes, petrol is heavily taxed and we pay road tax whenever we buy any vehicle. But there are few roads to drive. Roads are narrow and terrible condition so that we spend huge amounts in maintaing our cars. We pay property tax but water supply is so erratic that we have to buy water from private tankers at great cost inspite of paying water bills to the municipality. Electricity is erratic and voltage may swing wildly so every family has to buy voltage stabliser for each appliance and a generator or invertor to runs and fans. Any low level employee can decide to switch off electricity for upto 12 hours for repairs without any warning or consultation. If all the food in the fridge rots tough luck. Any appliance can burn out any time if the voltage rises suddenly so that stabiliser cannot cope. Manhole covers are left open and children regularly fall to their death. Built on quicksand the economy is growing at 8% and we are told that we have never had it so good. God help.

Poor Prince Charles who is visiting Pakistan with his wife and reduced to discussing religious tolerance and climate change instead of matters of the state and business. I think we are about the same age and where I had a tough life working in Britain, Saudi, Kuwait and India, learning new languages and customs, stuggling to bring up two children the Prince has been living in palaces all his life with all luxuries guaranteed. Unfortunately he has never been able to perform duties that he has been training for all his life because his mother will not let him. Like decrepit Indian politicians she hangs on to her gaddi refusing to alow her own son from doing something meaningful with his life instead of mucking about with dung in his organic farms and forever the butt of tabloid jokes. We Hindus believe that heaven and hell are both on this earth and I now understand what purgatory means. Poor Prince Charles.
On the subject of the Royals I do not believe that the Duke of Edinburgh arranged the death of Princess Diana as alleged by Dodi Al Fayed's father. I think the Duke would not have the wherewithal to arrange anything so complicated. Only a government would have the resources and the connections to carry out such a high profile killing without the slightest trace but it is hard to believe in such conspiracies. However I cannot erase an intriguing thought from my mind. Suppose Diana had lived, converted to Islam, changed her name to an Islamic name eg Fatma, married Dodi and had a couple of children. Now imagine the coronation of Prince William and his mother enters Westminster Abbey in a burqa with two boys wearing thobes and gutras. Knowing how instinctively racist and snobbish the British are I wonder what the reaction would be?

Another week and another refugee crisis in Africa, this time Somalis in Kenya. Independence from colonial powers should have resulted in peace and progress, instead corruption, civil war and AIDS are taking the continent backwards. What makes conflict so brutal in Africa? From Charles Taylor chopping the limbs of infants, to mass rapes in Darfur and cannibalism by the Mau Mau in the Congo the barbaric cruelty seems to surpass medieval times. Omar Bashir is black and indistinguishable from any other African but claims to be Arab as do most Somalis. I do not know if Charles Taylor claims to be caucasian as Liberia because Liberia was established by freed slaves from the US. Why are Africans reluctant to be Africans? I feel this is becuse none of the African languages had a written script. Phoenicians developed hieroglyphs in ancient Egypt but this did not sprad to the rest of Africa. Without writing it is possible to pass on tales of kings and battles by story telling or ballads but it is not possible to develop philosophy, science or literature. Thus I have not heard of any African Confucius or Socrates, any Vedas or Das Kapital, any Shakespeare or Newton. Without written language it is impossible to transmit ideas and impossible to develop a peaceful intellectual dialogue across races and distances and develop a cultural identity. African Americans are a case in point. Brought in as slaves they have adopted the religion and culture of their masters. They are the biggest group in the armed forces and follow orders to commit genocide in Vietnam and Iraq. Only Muhammed Ali had the guts to say that the Vietnam war was not his fight. If Africa is to progress Africans must develop cultural identity and not just nationalistic ones.

Like Americans, Indians have very poor sense of humour. We have few comedy programmes which depend on funny faces and voices to make people laugh. The humour is coarse and is accompanied by typical background music to allert people that they have to laugh. We are completely unable to laugh at ourselves. This is the reason why our politicians are unable to see how others see them. A bunch of criminal windbags preening with self importance they do not see the hatred and contempt they generate. They surround themselves with Z category security and cause traffic chaos for taxpaying honest citizens to feel superior and generate a false sense of security. Yet regularly we see politicians being murdered either by other politicians with Z security or by their relatives who want a share of the loot. They cannot tolerate any criticism and any attempt to poke fun will be ruthlessly suppressed. The British had a fantastic sense of humour and could make fun of anyone without any restriction at all. I think that this trait of being able to prick any pomposity was behind their Raj. Unfortunately I feel Blair lacks this British trait and is the reason for his troubles.

Thankyou Moonlight and a very happy Diwali to you too. I suspect you are young and pray that sanity prevails in the world so that you are able to enjoy many more such Diwalis. Two items of news in national newspapers. A judge takes his wife to a govt. hospital where he damands instant attention from the consultant who is too busy to see her instantly. So he summons him to his chambers and makes him sign an apology on Rs. 10 stamp paper under threat of contempt of court. Why is a judge's wife or indeed a judge more important than any other human being? If a doctor is resuscitating someone should he let that person die to attend the judge's wife? In India a rich man's family can survive his death because they have enough money but a labourer may have a wife, two children and elderly parents dependant on him and his death will reduce them to destitution. Unfortunately a govt hospital is most likely to have such patients and should the doctor have left him to attend to the judge's wife? The second item- Three men were crossing train tracks in the same city and were killed by an oncoming train. No fault of the train driver who could not possibly see these people and stop in time but passengers beat up rail staff and ransacked offices. Unconnected events but shows that people have so much contempt and hatred for the establishment because of the behaviour such as that of the judge.

Writing about the future Asimov visualised a world ruled by an emperor which may seem a regressive vision but it already seems to be happening. Politicians every where are already behaving like kings and passing laws centralising power in their hands. They are also growing increasingly intolerant of dissent or the mildest of criticism. This is glaringly obvious in the US where the Homeland security, Patriot act and the insistence on disregarding or bypassing laws regarding treatment of suspects makes it more like a dictatorship. Bush and his cronies insist that they are right even when they are wrong and to say different is unpatriotic. Not much different from the divine right of kings. What of Britain? With no empire, rise of Asian power, marginalised in Europe and Churchill's ghost still haunting the corridors of Whitehall British establishment is terrified of being reduced to irrelevance. In a sad and desperate attempt to get some recognition in foreign capitals Blair has reduced himself not so much to a poodle but to a lackey treated with disdain ( as in ' yo Blair ') and exagerating a minor threat to a major crisis to gain a little recognition from his master. Britain is not the 51st state but more a neighbourhood of white trash grovelling to be noticed. How long before His Majesty the President of the US? In India politicians are already above the law and citizens have no rights.

What is the colour of death? In Hollywood movies baddies are taken away by black, grotesque shapes while the goody is welcomed by a soft, comforting white light. Is an Iraqi mother likely to feel better that her teenage son has been shot dead by a white all American boy, whose Evangelical parents tie a yellow ribbon around the tree in the front garden, rather than by a filthy bearded terrorist? After the Germans lost the second World War, Nazi leaders were prosecuted at Nuremberg. Serbian leaders are facing prosecution in the Hague while Saddam and his cronies are being tried in Iraq. Yet there were no trials after the US defeat in Vietnam. On the contrary the US maintained sanctions against Vietnam for over 20 years because they wanted to know about soldiers missing in action ( MIAs ) or dead soldiers. Thus dead Americans were deemed to be more important than living Vietnamese. When the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty was signed it was envisaged that the nuclear powers will gradually get rid of their weapons and we will move towards a nuclear free world. Instead they have increased their arsenal and are researching newer types of weapons. Clearly they feel that they have a right to kill others without any threat to themselves. US did use nuclear weapons on Japan but they also considered using them on Vietnam and on India during the Bangladesh crisis. Is it any wonder that Asian countries feel the need of developing their own weapons after the repeated atrocities on Asia. So North Korea today, Iran tomorrow. When will they learn that death is colouless?

Dengue in Delhi is no surprise. Delhi is the capital of the country and the seat of the central govt. which has a say in the administration from the days when it used to be a Union Territory. Seven Members of Parliament are elected from the city and it has been granted status of a state so has an Assembly with a State Govt. There are two Municipal corporations the New Delhi Municipal Corporation or NDMC which looks after the VIP part and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi or MCD which loots the trash part which means where we live. It is no surprise, therefore , that with so many different scoundrels looting the treasury it is a filthy city. Every monsoon the roads get flooded after little rain because drains are never cleaned. After a light shower roads break up and are not repaired for months. As soon as a road is repaired some agency such as the telephones, water or electricity will dig it up again because they are in league with the contractors. Water supply is erratic and we have to buy water at exorbitant rates from tankers who are in league with the sarkari fellows. Electricity distribution was privatised but the private companies were forced to take on the diseased govt. fellows so power cuts are frequent. Taxes are continually increased but we get no services. Nineteen have died but it is no epidemic. With so many bloodsuckers why grudge a few little mosquitoes.

Dengue outbreak in Delhi. The Health Minister refuses to call it an epidemic. All the noise is about patients admitted to AIIMS and no one knows how many are dying in the slums after heavy doses of antibiotics and steroids by quacks. Of course the Honble Health Minister is busy banning screening of any smoking scenes in films and destroying the morale of the doctors at the same AIIMS. This is being done in a two pronged attack. First by refusing to pay the salaries of junior doctors who had gone on strike to protest against admission of lower caste students with low marks in admission tests. Who benefits from reservations ? The children of politicians because their millionaire parents have put them through fee paying schools. It is another matter that the real have nots have not received even a primary education and hence do not know what higher education means. So we will have an army of 5% doctors to ill treat the people while the politicians go abroad at our expense to get treated. The man who first started this Mandal abomination went to the UK for treatment of his kidney ailment with his security detail. So while people were dying at the hands of 5% doctors this fellow spent Rs. 800 million of tax payers money being treated by white skinned super brahmins.
The second method is to attack the head of AIIMS who is respected by other doctors. What this is meant to achieve God alone knows but it has certainly destroyed the morale at the country's leading medical institution. The biggest tragedy is that this Health Minister is a doctor. No sharam, no izzat.

The truth at last. In a burst of heated anger Musharraf at last spoke the truth when he said that the Paki intelligence agency ISI was under total control of the govt. That is exactly what India has been saying all these years. It is the Paki govt. with Chief Jehadi Musharraf in charge which is responsible for all the terrorism in the world. He came to power in a coup and has tried to don civilian clothes while occupying the post of Commander in Chief. He has been lying consistently about his involvement in terrorism across the world. With Libya out of the picture Pakistan, Iran and Syria are the main sponsors of terrorism. Iran and Syria support Hamas and Hezbollah and are also involved in the continuing violence in Iraq. If the US gets tied down in Iraq then Syria can continue to meddle in Lebanon and Iran can continue with their nuclear programme. However where the Taliban and the Al Qaida are concerned Pakis are providing safe haven, training to new recruits and arms. All these years that Indians were dying because of Paki sponsored terrorists no one cared. Now white skinned NATO troops are being killed western govts. are beginning to notice. This is only the beginning. Many many more white boys are destined to die in Afghanistan and at some point they will realise that Pakis have to be destroyed first. Unfortunately it is going to be even more dangerous as these mad dogs in their hate fuelled rage will wnt to strike out one last time before dying. India being in close proximity and with a weak corrupt govt. will suffer. Still at least the truth is out at last.

What's with the One God fellows. They have a common God and a common set of prophets starting with Abraham ( Ibrahim ) with Jews stopping at Moses ( Mousa ), Christians at Jesus ( Eisa ) and Moslems at Mohammad. Mousa and Eisa are very common names among Moslem Arabs. As I understand it God used to hand down his orders through these prophets who would later pass them on to their followers. Many of these prophets did not write down what communication they had received from God and their pronouncements were penned by their followers often decades after their death. Thus their would be several versions of their scriptures depending on the recall of a particular follower. For example their were several versions of the New Testament until the church destroyed all versions except one. However God did communicate with ordinary people on one occasion when he wrote the Ten Commandments in stone which could not be changed. He said ' Thou shalt not kill.' No exceptions. Kill who? Nobody whether heathen, kafir or enemy. Kill what? No animal, bird, fish or even plant. Kill when? At any time.Kill why? For any reason whatsoever. Yet forever Jews, Christans and Moslems have been killing each other and us Hindus because we worship idols. Catholics kill Protestants and Sunnis kill Shias. We Hindus do not kill each other saying my God is bigger, we do not convert and have never waged a Crusade or a Jihad. Yet we are kafirs or heathens.

Seems Amartya Sen feels that homosexuality should be decriminalised in India. Nonone seems to give any thought to the fact that male and female homosexuality are completely different and should not be clubbed together. Consider anatomy. Woman has a vagina which is a very distensible organ capable of accommdating any size of penis. Two lesbians may engage in oral sex or use implements shaped like the male organ and as long as they are careful not to cause injury their act is near physiological. Man has a penis which when excited is hard. Two men may engage in oral sex or one man inserts his organ in tha anal passage of the submissive partner. The anal sphincter is designed for evacuation of faeces but not for the insertion of a hard object and repeated such act causes a patulous, incompetent sphincter resulting in faecal incontinence. The rectum is loaded with bacteria esp. gram negative ones and the dominant partner gets urinary tract infection which is almost unknown in men till they get enlrged prostate over the age of 60 years. Thus while female homosexuality is near physiological the male act is totally abnormal. Lesbians may feel liberated at getting rid of men from their lives but they are actually providing a human shield to the abnormal activities of their male counterparts.

Bush has done it again. He lied about WMDs for inveding Iraq and he lied again in his address on September 11 when he said that the US will win in Iraq. US is a very big loser whatever happens now. If democracy prevails there will be a Shia govt. the leaders of which are friendly and indebted to Iran which means Iran will control all of southern Iraq which borders on Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. This will give them a certain leverage on the largest oil producers of the world. The Arabs must be dreading the prospect of Islamic Persians breathing down their necks. The Kurds will see their opportunity and demand de facto independence which will upset Turkey a key Nato ally. Already their are regular bomb blasts in Turkey. If, on the other hand, there is civil war in Iraq the US will be tied down for a long time and Iran will continue to create problems by training and arming militants. They will thus be able to distract the US and continue with their programme to build nuclear weapons. Either way the US loses. Saddam was the best friend the US had. He was undoubtedly a murdering psycho but he was secular in his hatred of jehadis and was an implacable enemy of Iran. Also he was toothless and, therefore, a useful ally to have if the US wanted to bomb the nuclear sites in Iran. Bush may have invade Iraq for his Pop but it will go down in history as ' MOM' i.e. Mess of the Moron.

Two lies have been very effective in enslaving the people of India. The first is that India is a poor country and the second is that the gap between rich and poor needs to be reduced. To take the second point first it does not matter how much money Tata or Mittal or Ambani has. If I was asked to write 30 billions in numbers I will fail because I am not sure how many zeroes will be needed. I am unable to imagine so much money and so do not aspire to it. I am sure the richest men did not start life thinking of making so much money, it just happened because what they did was so successful. People want basics. A decent apartment, a car, and enough money for food, clothes, utilities, children's expenses and medical emergencies. People mostly want job security so that they can live in peace. Life is anyway so complex that no one has time to dream of being a Bill Gates or a Warren Buffet. Redistribution of wealth is just an excuse to tax us heavily and then plunder the treasury. It is also a good way to keep people poor. Which brings me to the first lie. India is not a poor country, it has been kept poor for over 50 years. Unlike now all the leaders at independence were highly educated and all had been abroad. Surely they had seen that children were required to go to school compulsorily till the age of 16 years. We had a socialist system of govt. which allowed the politicians to control steel, railways, airlines, banks but education, health and food production were left to the private sector. Soviet Union and Cuba had 100% literacy but 60% of our people were kept ignorant so as to exploit them. These lies are still being used to exploit and extort.

Thank you Pipi. Muslims in India from the lower castes who have been horribly persecuted in the past and are still being persecuted today. They hate all hindus and anything that seems to be connected with us. However hatred of hindus is not confined to Indian muslims. I was shocked ot hear Saudi muttawahs abusing hinduism on tv and in Arab News. I had never thought that Saudis would know anything about us but the depth of hatred was intense. However muslims have a concept of Ummah which seems a collective of all muslims and transcends nationality and loyalty. Thus muslims born in Britain are able to plant bombs in trains and buses. Their entire mentality is based on hatred. A couple of days ago sunnis in Iraq killed shia pilgrims from India and Pakistan in cold blood. As I have said in any part of the world there are more than one hundred muslims there is trouble. Strangely there are lots of muslims in Idia and Pakistan who are in the music business. Perhaps they have not realised that ragas have to do with hinduism. Why would they sing for Durga when they keep their women in burqas and discard them like refuse by citing talaq?

'Black dog!' said the Grand Master,'I touch not misbelievers, save with the sword. Comrade take thou the letter from the Jew and give it to me.' : Ivanhoe; Sir Walter Scott.
Antonio: You may as well do anything most hard, As to seek to soften that - than which what's harder? His Jewish heart?' Merchant of Venice; William Shakespeare.
BBC's coverage of the recent Lebanon war was as one sided as it gets. Terms such as 'war crimes' and 'carnage' were used freely esp. after Qana when 20 people died. How many were Hizbollah and how many were civilians we will never know but interesttingly such terms were never used for Iraq even after the massacre in Faluja when white phosphorus was used. I remember the shameful anti Putin propaganda even while innocent children were being slaughtered by Chechen butchers in Beslan. As for the UN, Kofi Anan's term is coming to an end. He has been savaged by Bolton and the Volcker report put his son in more than a spot of bother. How better to get back at the US support of Israel than by accusing them of war crimes. One bearded fellow was so angry that most of the cluster bombs were used in the last 72 hours. Is'nt it better to use these bombs when most of the civilian population had left the area and all who remained were likely to be Hezbollah. Never saw such righteous indignation when the US and UK were liberally using them in Iraq. As for French who were rushing around like headless chicken to save the poor Lebanese but cannot find soldiers to maintain peace. There were some questions of Mitterand and the Vichy govt. What hope for Israel with so many enemies?

In a report last week the Acountant General ( CAG ) said that the money collected from the 3% Education Cess is not being allocated to right recipients and is being misused which is what I always suspected would happen. Now we hear that the govt. is levying an AIDS cess on air tickets. The taxes on air tickets are already at obscene levels and in some cases the tax is higher than the value of the ticket. The low cost airlines are making losses and according to Boeing this is not sustainable. So what happens if the airlines collapse? Who cares. According to the sclerosed politicians air travel is a luxury for the upper classes and therefore not a vote winner. They do not see that for the first time even middle classes are able to afford air travel and will suffer most. So what happens to all the money that is looted and will be be looted in the future? The easiest and perhaps the only asset in which to hide colossal amounts of loot is the housing and building sector. No wonder housing prices are becoming astronomical and the price of land is Rs. 30000 per sq. yard even in the dirtiest of little towns. Once the money is invested in land then one can borrow white money from banks and invest in the share market which explains why the Sensex is touching 12000 from a low of 2900 about a year and half ago. Meanwhile affordable housing is beyond the reach of ordinary people. So what do we do? The onle thing is to beat your head against the wall in frustration at our helplessness. Is it any wonder that people are joining naxals and other separatist groups? Power comes from thae barrel of a gun, as Mao said a long while ago.

Us will have to nuke Iran. That is the only way they will be able to leave Iraq and save american lives. Iran is moving as fast as possible to develop nuclear weapons which will make them invincible and able to dominate the entire Gulf area and posibbly oil supply. Saddam was the best friend the americans had but now they can only lose. If peace happens the Shias will control Iraq which will give Iran influence and access right upto the borders of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. If the troubles continue Iran has shown what it can do through the Hezbollah in Lebanon. Also seems to me that whenever the americans want to test new weapons they choose to do it in Asia. Thus we had atom bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, napalm in Korea and Vietnam, dioxin in Vietnam and depleted uranium in Afghanistan and Iraq. Now they need to test a new generation of tactical nukes a Iran is in Asia. They give amusing names to their bombs such as Fat Boy, Daisy Cutter and so on so that their victims will die happy and innocent children blown to bits are called collateral damage like tables, chairs or garbage. Unfortunately Asian countries are so blinded by hatred against each other that they are oblivious. Iran watch out.
The govt has last published some rules for cablewallahs when they have been in business for over 10 years. There are still no rules for DTH ( satellite tv ). About four years ago the second son of the Media Tycoon visted India and rumour has it that he made offers to politicians that they could not refuse. The reason is that at present there is no way of knowing which channel people are watching and the total number of subscribers are presumed to watch every channel which is absurd. So every channel is charging subscrition and selling commercial time thus short changing both consumers as well as advertisers. Now the Supreme Court has mandated the set top box by first of January so the govt is isuing guidelines for cablewallahs after we have had to tolerate torture for years. The cablewallah would suddenly change channels or the signal would suddenly disappear and complaints would be treated with contempt. Last night I was watching a football match when the commentary suddenly changed to Hindi. Watching a Premier League match with Hindi commentary is hoorible for two reasons. One, the commentators are clearly not in the stadium but somewhere in India probably Jhumritalia. Second, all terms such as goal, offside, centre forward, foul, penalty etc are in English and have no translation. Nothing we can do as the cable system is based on monopoly and the politicians have been blocking DTH.

India is one of the most corrupt countries in the world but why? Law and order are maintained by the police, the judiciary and by lawyers. If you visit any court in India you will find scores of lawyers in dirty black jackets sitting under trees and tin sheds on broken chairs or benches. No other profession practices in such surroundings and only two professions have touts standing outside trying to catch clients. One is the law profession and the other is prostitution. Is it any wonder that lawyers are hated and despised and regularly make news for rape, cheating and swindling. I cannot make any comment about the judiciary for fear of being in contempt but would like to point out that judges are recruited from lawyers and where in the world can yopu obtain 'anticipatory bail'. Imagine getting bail in anticipation of committing a crime. One of the collaborators in a Delhi murder obtained anticipatory bail from Manipur. As for the police they are a mafia in uniform. They are brutal, crooked and feared by the people. It suits the politicians and civil servants to have an ieffective police because they continue to loot with impunity. Unlike the pampered and increasingly corrupt defence forces the police are paid a pittance, are treated like servants by ministers and do not even have medical cover even though they risk their lives a lot more than the army in peace time. A police inspector cannot afford asthma inhalers for Rs. 280 so I do not know how to treat him. I am told by a friend that when the Southern Fat Lady phones the police chief stands up. That India still survives is a tribute to the sick police.

15th August was celebrated as Independence Day. All crooked politicians were in lecture mode. People travelling from Jaipur to Delhi were trapped in a massive traffic jam for at least six hours because the toll booth had been shut down because some idiot was giving a speech. Imprisoned in cars for six hours to celebrate independence. It is time to reduce the power of the poiticians and civil servants. Politicians think that they are entitled to behave as emperors when in fact they have been elected to serve the people. In a democracy the terms VIP and VVIP are abominations. They have to be amd to understand that they are SERVANTS of the people and not masters as they seem to think. They do not own roads, railways or any of the public assets. We do. They promise free electricity, free water, cheap rice to win elections when they have no right to benefit from handouts of our tax money. Recently this fellow won a state election promising free colour tvs to everyone of the electorate. Who is going to pay for this? If he uses tax money then it is criminal plunder and he should be put away. If he or his party is to pay then he is breaking the ceiling on election spending and his win should be declared void. A few years ago the Southern Fat Lady spent millions of public funds for the marriage of her foster son when everyone knows that he is her bastard son from the Film Star. Stop the plunder now I say.
Went to Corbett Tiger Park at the foothills of Ranikhet and have understood why the number of tigers are going down. I think tigers are committing suicide. A tiger is a perfect sanyasi. It lives in forests in solitude, does not talk unless looking for a mate, accepts heat, cold or rain with equanimity, is philosophical to the dangers offered by the forest, eats only what it can and does not indulge, does not accumulate treasure, has no enemies, is a good mother but is not possessive of its children. It is majestic, honest and has a dignity which humans cannot have. Imagine 30 jeeps entering the park at 6 AM everyday so that humans can invade its privacy and disturb its sleep. Imagine a typical north Indian family, dad with a tummy sticking out, a solid gold chain and the ubiquitous mobile phone which has a ring tone of the latest hindi movie. Mom at least 20 kilos overweight and a voice loud enough to frighten an elephant. Two revolting children eating masala flavoured potato crisps out of a large bag and loudly demanding to see a tiger because it has been promised. Is it not enough to drive anyone to suicide? At least the tiger which was brought out for Clinton was rendered unconscious by a cocktail of drugs so it was spared its life. Hard to imagine how the security goons of the US President would have reacted had it twitched its tail. Time we respected the privacy of animals and left them alone.

The relation between Indian muslims and Arabs is complex. Arabic is the only language of Heaven and the Quran is in ancient Arabic and all muslim prayers have to be in that language. Unfortunately 99% of muslims in the subcontinent do not understand Arabic and have to depend on Arabs to explain the laws of Sharia which govern their actions. A Saudi muttawa ( priest ) told me that on judgement day every person will be resurrected exactly as he or she is in this life. Thus a tailor will remain a tailor, a plumber will remain a plumber and so on. Which means that when called upon to explain their actions in Arabic no one will be able to answer. They will then be put on a wall, on one side of which is Hell while onthe other side Heaven, and given some time to come up with answers. The questions will then be asked again and again they will be unable to answer and they will be pushed into Hell. Here a person is dipped in boiling oil which burns the skin, then he is lifted out and the skin regrows only to go back into oil again. This till eternity. The Arabs reckon that since all Indian muslims will end up in hell anyway why give them any respect in this life. This also explains why muslims keep saying that theirs is a religion of peace but keep killing Hindus, Jews, Christians, atheists, Commies in fact everybody.
Thinking about Congress. For 50 years they have exploited the poverty in India and extended it. This has allowed them to be socialists and control everything from banks to steel, from airlines to telephones. Keep people poor, ineducated, hungry and in poor health with a life span of 40 years abd they are grateful for subsidised kerosene and inedible rations. Import restrictions, sky high taxes, licences to relatives or cronies to create monopolies and keep the middle class under control. Deny people telephones, gas connections or building permits and they will be humbly begging to pay bribes. When I returned to India in 1987 I had to wait 4 years for a telephone. A colour TV cost RS.40000, an AC RS. 36000. Today they are Rs. 10000. Remember the loan melas when bundles of cash were distributed to party workers and public sector banks left with NPAs of 15%. Today Congress is fighting for our farmers by collapsing the WTO talks. These poor wretches who have been trying to scratch a living from poor quality soil and committing suicide in droves. Why not by cheap wheat subsidised by US and EU taxpayers and organise the farmers into huge cooperatives to grow two or three cash crops a year for export. Rubbish talk? Until around 1995 milk sweets would be banned in Delhi during summer. Thanks to Amul India is awash in milk today. Lijjat Papad and the Dabbawallahs of Mumbai are others. First though we have to break our shackles. 'C' stands for crime, corruption, cancer, Communists and Congress and of course charity which enriches their homes

Thank you Pipi, Ach and Devta. I am sorry that I cannot get online everyday and have to think about my answers so that they are logical. Ah the Congress. This party ruled India almost unchallenged for almost 50 years and brought us to the brink of bankruptcy in 1991. Unlike the present lot the politicians at idependence were all scholars yet they kept 60% of the population illiterate for all these years so as to be able to exploit them economically and politically. Nehru was an Englishman educated at Oxford yet did not see that education is compulsory for all children below the age of 16 years. Now the same party has added 3% to all taxes as Education Cess. No sharam, no izzat. Our freeloading press keeps lauding Mr. M. Singh liberalising the economy as Finance Minister under Narasimha Rao. What they conveniently forget is that they were forced by the fact that we were bankrupt and having signed the WTO had to reduce import duties. As for the telecom miracle, this was forced on us by the Americans who were angered by having to pay millions of dollars for connection charges to govt. controlled companies. They threatened sanctions and forced Singh to liberalise.

I was watching Binyamin Netanyahu, previous soldier and prime minister, presently Leader of the Opposition in the Knesset in Israel being interviewed on BBC. George Alegaya was persistently trying to pin him down but he was firm, logical and steadfast. He said,' I know you are trying to get me to criticise the govt. and you are very good at your job but we are at war and I will not do it.' Later in the programme Hartalk he staunchly defended the actions of his country in hitting Hezbollah. What a difference with our politicians who were trying to make political capital after the Mumbai blasts where so many innocents were butchered. As expected last week parliament passed a motion critical of Israel's attempt to defend itself. I remember in the 70s when my parents got their passports their was a rubber stamp saying that the passport was not valid for travel to Israel, Albania and South Africa. Growing up in Nehru's India all I saw was unstinting support for the Palestinians and hostility to Israel although Israel always wanted to be friends with us. So what did we get for all this support? Every time we fought with Pakistan the Arabs would support the Pakis with money and arms. Even now the terrorists who are killing innocents are being financed by the Arab countries. The terrorists who are carrying out such slaughter do not realise that Arabs look down on muslims in the subcontinent. In Saudi Arabia muslims from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are routinely humiliated, beaten and given the most filthy work. Arabs have 2 words for friend, 'rafiq' which is used for low class and 'sadiq' which is used for equals. Muslims from here are always addressed as rafiq. Only once did a rich Saudi make the mistake of addressing me as rafiq and I told him that he, his family and his entire blankety blank country were rafiqs. He ran from there. A muslim would never dare.

Pipi thankyou. You are right in that the politicians do not care about middle class votes but they care deeply about our money. If we stop buying big ticket items for a few months the indirect tax collections will drop and that might concentrate a few minds. Of course it may affect profit margins of companies and their share prices but this will only be temporary because the pent up demand will c0mpensate in the end. It is not just taxes that you pay when you buy anything because you have to provide your income tax number or the Permanent Account Number ( PAN ) which then gives the income tax babus the opportunityto harass you.
You have to understand that here politicians and civil servants commit crimes but the punishment is suffered by innocent citizens and tax payers. For instance there is a very high level of traffic accidents on our roads with consequent deaths and injuries. The reason is that no one knows how to drive because everyone gets a licence by paying and few people actually take a driving test. Who issues driving licences? The police. So how do they propose to cut the number of accidents. They build speed breakers or bumps in the road anywhere they like and some so high that my car scrapes its underside no matter how slow I drive. So I suffer enormous frustrations as a punishment for police corruption. Similarly terrorists and gangsters regularly have 3 or 4 passports under different identities. Who issues passports? Civil servants in the Home Ministry. So what is the solution. Indians are the only people who have to suffer the humiliation of immigration check when returning home. Even in a police state like Saudi Arabia its citizens just walk through but here we have to queue for hours. How do we let the blood suckers know that enough is enough? Hit them where it hurts I say.

Pipi thankyou for your comment. It is great to know that someone has read what I had to say. Firstly no one asked the British at the time what was instrumental in their leaving India. Gandhi undoubtedly had a great part to play but we do not know the value of armed resistance. Almost every family in Bengal lost someone. It was not just Bose but people like Khudiram, Binoy, Badal, Dinesh, Masterda and many others who might have made the British decidedly unwelcome. Calcutta used to be the capital of the Raj at one time but the British shifted to Delhi which has had a long history of welcoming conquerors and enemies of India. Mohd. bin Tuglak, Nader Shah, the Moguls to name a few. Unfortunately the school curriculum today teaches only about Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad thus changing history.
General Cariappa is reputed to have asked for only 24 hours to liberate Kashmir but Nehru chose to go to the UN. It might have something to do with Lady Pamela but let us move on. We had Panchsheel with China and recognised their hold on Tibet only for them to attack us. They still occupy about 50000 sq. miles today. There was a war with the Pakis ( forget the year ) when we fought with outdated arms against Patton tanks. Little Gnat airplanes against F14s. We won because of the sheer bravery and scrifice of our troops. We were sitting on the banks of the Ichogil Canal lookin at Lahore. Lal Bahadur Shastri gave it all away at Tashkent for nothing. In 1971, 95000 Paki soldiers surrendered to India terrified of being captured by the Bangladeshis. Indira Gandhi released them for nothing. Today's Bangladeshis are probably illegitimate children of Paki rapes and hate India. Remember these people believe in 'eye for an eye' stuff and probably see us as weak and contemptible. What do you think?

Today's big lie - inflation is less than 5%. Very conveniently they publish only the wholesale price index completely ignoring the Extortion Factor. This is known as the Service Tax. Started at 8%, it went up to 10% and is now 12% with 3% education cess. More other cesses are being planned and the tax is being extended so that every one will come under its net. For instance with the price of air fuel rising airlines are adding a fuel surcharge. Service tax is being put on this surcharge. Now you may think that oil is a commodity but for the blood suckers definitions are irrelevant. This year my chartered accountant charged me Rs. 1000 more because he has been put under Service Tax. So I have paid Service Tax to pay my income tax. Perverted or what?
I have a suggestion for the blood suckers. Put Service Tax on crematoriums and blood transfusions so that as more people die and are cremated the blood suckerscan really clean up and take their fat, ugly wives and brutish, drug taking children for shopping to Europe and the US.
The blood suckers think that the middle class is too scattered and disparate to challenge them but we can hit them where it hurts and that is by refusing to pay this tax. We cannot refuse to pay income tax because then they can harass us but we can refuse to spend our hard earned money.
We should cut down our perchases to only essential items and postpone purchase of things like fridges, cars, washing machines until the blood suckers relent. No matter where we are we can cut the taxes we pay. Hit the blood suckers I say.
If you observe little children playing you will often hear a child say, 'if you hit me I will not play with you.' That was the response of the Indian govt. to the Mumbai blasts. 'We will not hold anymore peace talks with Pakistan.' The lying Generals and the murderous Jihadis must have cracked up laughing. Why are we impotent? Recently Mr. Jaswant Singh has written in his autobiography that he knows of a spy in Mr. Narasimha Rao's office but will not disclose his name. Imagine if this had happened in any other country. There would have been an outcry in the media, police would have interrogated Mr. Singh and he would have been put in jail until he revealed the person who would then have been investigated and jailed for a very long time. Countries such as the UK which have abolished the death penalty for crime still retain it for traitors. Here we have a circus of the stupid. No sharam, no izzat. Why is this possible? Through the years politicians and civil servants have been bribed by foreigners. Bofors, the submarine deal, oil for food and many that we do not know about. Once you have been bought you have to obey your masters for ever. This is why inspite of having a million strong army and spending billions on arms we are impotent. China still occupies at least 50000 square miles of Indian land, Pakis send bombers at their whim, even insignificant Bangladeshis keep shooting our troops dead. Hard disks disappear from computers of Intelligence services so that our enemies know exactly what is going on but the govt. is going to change the Right to Information Act so that the citizens are kept ignorant. The only thing that matters is to win the next election so that the blood sucking can go on.
India is dying slowly.

Thankyou Moonlight. I do not know how old you are but I am over 50 and have been reading newspapers for over 40 years and over the years have seen criminals and scum take over the entire political and civil service. My life has no value as I have already mentioned and noone listens to anything I say. Unfortunately free press is a myth as our journalists are just happy to perpetuate the lies told by the politicians. Two reasons for this. One is fear. Can you imagine writing the truth in Bihar, UP or Tamil Nadu. At best you will be beaten up, at worst killed. This has already happened. I think there is a way around this and that is collaboration between different papers. For instance if a reporter has proof about corruption in Bihar he will quietly pass on his story to a paper in say Kerala where it will be printed in the local press and if sufficient noise is made will be picked up by national news media.
The second reason for our tame press is greed. The Press Club in Delhi gets liquor at Army Canteen rates, they are given freebees by ministers and get to travel free with the ministers on foreign junkets. These bribes at the taxpayres expense makes them partners in crime and reluctant to take on politicians. All the scoundrels shown up by the Tahalka expose are living comfortably but the owner was bankrupted by the then government by bringing a string if false cases through agencies like the CBI paid for by our money. Not a single journalist had the guts or the character to stand up against this perversion.
Frustrated by the constant lies I am using this medium to unburden my soul.

India and Israel, both victims of terrorist attacks but what different response. While Israel is defending itself by going after its enemies our' Great Leaders' ring their hands in helpless stupidity. Some even try to make political points on opponents while blood and tears flow uninhibited. A million strong army, billions of dollars worth of hardware controlled by a selfish, emasculated and clueless bunch. What a glorious advertisement for 5000 years of civilisation. A Paki retired general has written that the Indian government has been warned that any attack on Pakistan by any nation will be answered by a nuclear attack on India. And we have been cowed by this rubbish. Tell the Pakis that any attack on India will mean total annihilation of that stinking country and also give them a list of their home addresses and tell them where the first bombs would fall. But we cannot even answer Bangladesh. I was at the border in 1971 when the Bangladesh war was on. The Mukti Bahini is a myth. They were a malnourished, uneducated mob armed with 303 rifles they could hardly carry. The whole war was fought by Indian commandoes who would go across at night and beat the hell out of the Pakis. Now the Bangladeshis regularly shoot across the border or kidnap and torture BSF personnel. Any other nation would have bombed the ingratitude out of these wretches but instead we invite their Prime Minister for a red carpet wellcome. Time has come for us to make friends with Israel, send our troops to help them and invite them to teach us how to obliterate our enemies.

'Sharam and Izzat' , these words have no real english equivalents. Sharam is an amalgam of shyness, shame, self respect and an inability to do anything dihonourable. Izzat is honour, respect, dignity and face combined and more precious than life itself. These are the two qualities that give value to a person and stop him or her from any action that would result in loss of izzat and lead to sharam. Unfortunately politicians and civil servants have long lost these. Ministers or secretaries arrested for heinous crimes actually smile and wave when they are entering the police vehicle. They are not just criminal but beggars as well. Members of parliament routinely vote for increased perks with no opposition while people may be dying of hunger. We see undeserving people occupying bungalows worth hundreds of crores when they are not in office and have to be thrown out by the supreme court often with unpaid utility bills worth hundreds of thousands unpaid. When the supreme court is wasting time in acting as a bailif where is the time for more important cases. Thus Priyanka Gandhi occupies a government bungalow when she and her husband are not politicians, civil servants or diplomats. And who authorised the bungalow? It was the BJP when the party was in power. Clearly a case of quid pro quo. Since the Congress has come to power it has been increasing taxes with obscene hurry to make up for the few years that they were not in office and hence could not get their cut. Service tax rate has been increased, an education cess is added to the tax and all kinds of services have been added to the list. So what have they done with all this money. They are buying seven luxury jets for ministers at a cost of millions of dollars without a peep from the oppostion or their comrades, the Communists.

India Dying may seem strange name to choose when all we keep hearing is that India is shining, infotech industry is growing exponentially and the US is actually wanting to make us their nuclear partner. Also I am not some sort of antinational who only sees the negative in everything. Thing is I do not exist.
This is not something to do with Maya and the Ultimate Reality stuff but about me as a citizen of India. I do exist in the sense that I have a body, practice as a Consultant Physician, own a car, possess a driving licence, a PAN card and a passport and pay taxes but still do not exist in that I have no rights, even the right to life.
I pay road tax but drive on broken roads, pay property tax but receive no water, pay income tax but am treated with contempt by the politicians and civil servants. I may be killed by any criminal politician or his son and the murderer will walk around without any worry. Jessica Lall, Shivani Bhatnagar and Madhumati come immediately to mind.Three young ladies killed without any mercy and the killers are still free. Not skulking in some hovel, afraid to go out in case they are caught but living free in society, enjoying life and laughing at the teeth gnashing grief of their families. Any thieving police constable may shoot me dead and burn my body claiming that I was
a terrorist. My family would not be given my ashes to carry out my feneral. Indeed I am lower than a cow in importance. If any VIP were to kill a cow there will be a riot and he will have to appologise and compensate but killing me will be like swatting a fly. I am not alone in this. The great majority of citizens, like me, also do not exist. We go through our lives accepting insults and humiliation on a daily basis as our fate. Small wonder people are taking up arms against the state. The state is the enemy.
