Unwanted foreign currency.
Following President Donald Trump's order, "US Agency for International Development (USAID) has issued a directive asking all organisations implementing projects with its support in India to suspend work until further notice." The greatest effect will be in health where USAID has "bolstered technical support to grassroots-level outreach" and in "education, gender and climate change". At a time when global aid has dropped considerably this "can compound the financial troubles facing NGOs in development." TOI. This is shocking news because this government has cracked down on NGOs suspected of religious conversions when 13 NGOs "granted registration to receive foreign donations for 'religious' purposes, were suspended and their bank accounts frozen" under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) in 2020. TOI. In July 2024, "Many of India's highest profile NGOs and think-tanks are now in dire straits, as are the human lives they touched." In 2020, "All charitable trusts and institutions had to revalidate their registration with the tax department. New compliance burdens were added, including GST obligations," and in 2023, "Some NGOs have faced tax raids and money-laundering allegations." TOI. Why was USAID allowed to support NGOs with US dollars when, "A law passed in July 1955 by a joint resolution of the 84th Congress and approved by President Dwight Eisenhower requires that 'In God We Trust' appear on all American currency?" wikipedia. This God is American, so it is a blatant attempt at conversion through bribery. Also, why do we need alms from the US when, "By 2047, when India celebrates its 100th year of independence the country could potentially become a $55 trillion economy, said Krishnamurthy Subramanian? The Annual Status of Education Report (Rural) "noted that for children aged 6-14, enrollment dropped from 72.9% in 2022 to 66.8% in 2024. Meanwhile, in terms of learning, the report found that the proportion of Class 3 students in government schools able to read Class 2-level text increased from 16.3% in 2022 to 23.4% in 2024." ET. Following lockdown for Covid, "The academic years of 2020-21 and 2021-22 saw an erosion of gains from the previous years. ASER 2024 brings the good news that the situation in schools has improved. DH. The other view is that, "This report paints a dire picture of education especially in rural areas," and "One of the primary factors contributing to these poor learning outcomes is the inadequate training support for teachers." DH. A total lockdown was imposed on the whole of India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from 25 March 2020. pib.gov.in. "Only in April 2022 did things return to 'normal'." "What was supposed to be learnt during this period was not. In addition, children forgot a lot of what they had learnt previously." Have the children recovered all the lost learning? "The answer is 'no'," wrote Anurag Behar. The government is cutting off foreign funding for NGOs to stop foreign gods. Our children need US dollars with the US God. Stopping USAID will protect our gods. And, children don't vote.
