Even an attempt at reducing trade with the US could lead to a serious recession. It's main land border is with the US and it shares a tiny negligible border on Hans Island with Greenland (and hence with the Kingdom of Denmark) and a maritime border with "France's overseas collectivity of Saint Pierre and Miquelon to the southeast". wikipedia.
